Fire: fed by wood, heals earth, and extinguished by water.
This painting is part of a series based on the five elements of Eastern Philosophy. All of them are oil on 30 inch by 36 inch (I believe) canvas. The style is influenced by traditional Chinese painting, especially Song Dynasty works. "Fire" was the painting that inspired the rest. I had no particular intentions except to play with this colour scheme when I picked up the brush, but it developed beautiful. I'm fond of this picture. Prints are available.  The original paintings are also available for sale, however, I'm not willing to split up the series. All five are interdependent elements, after all, and need to go to the same home. |
