Light My Way by Silkspinner Light My Way by Silkspinner
An expanded view of my Dutan'vir image. I couldn't for the life of me decide what color to make the glowy person and light effects. A copy is sitting all on one layer, so the hue slider is very psychadelic.

Reference used, thank you :iconstock308:!

Again, the character is derivative of :icondrowtales: 's world. You can check the portrait version of this image for more info on her. :)

Yeah...it's got some weak links. Sadly, this has moved into the realm of "older piece" now. May try to rework it much later, though for now I'm focused on getting some new stuff in the gallery.

Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, beautiful! :wow:
- I'd increase the green lights on the clothes and face, though. Seems a little dim for my taste -:giggle:
Dutan'vir was a clan, right?

Yes, the Val'Dutan'vir were the clan destroyed (well, whose destruction was finished by) the events in the prologue. :3

.o. Quite beautiful! With all of this beautiful work, I am stunned that you have less pageviews than me. D: That is somewhat depressing.

What do you use for the coloring?

I think part of it is that my work is often disliked because it rides that icky line between amateur and professional. I'm past the gentle encouragement of a hobby artist, but can't yet earn the admiration commanded from the awesome pros around here since artists of any level can still pick out major flaws in my work. This picture (and every other one I've ever done) was rejected from Epilogue.net.

Not a complaint, though! Just need to improve! :D

Well, that, and I draw unpopular stuff, and am not as active in the community as I should be. x3

And secondly...
It feels like you're selling your own work short! It's very pretty and emotive, you deserve the views. :D

As for coloring, this was Photoshop CS3 with a wacom tablet. It should be noted that CS3 is a fairly recent acquisition for me, though, and most of the pieces in my gallery were done on 6.0. :3

Unpopular, you mean anime, don't you. XD I am trying to steer myself away from the style, but I've found it hard. High school teachers are not keen on helping to find a personal style and would rather the work just be done.

In fact, all my views are for a fanfiction that I wrote back in '05. It had little plot, and no character development, but because it involved Full Metal Alchemist, it has the most comments and views of everything. Most of my real work was spewed onto the page.

I cannot see any particular flaws, unless you specifically are looking for them. "A critic is a person that knows the way, but can't drive the car". That is my view for such tidious critique. :3

Heehee...anime's part of it, yes. I'm actually a much, much bigger fan of fused anime-realism styles than strict realism, and am slooowly trying to work myself over to that.

As for fanfiction...bleh. That's the problem with posting fanstuff. It's frustrating when it gets way more attention than the pieces you're most proud of. XD

Heh, the fanfiction is becoming a pet peeve of mine. XD So many Mary Sues flooded my stories, and I've actually had a piece up with seven of them. I'm debating whether or not to finally delete that one.

Realism has never been easy for me. The only thing remotely realistic that I was able to accomplish was a portrait of a band member, Reita from the GazettE. o.o;; And you could see the anime influence throughout the entire thing, so I got a bad grade as a result. XD When I made a bust that I loved that recieved a decent grade, no one even looked. Not even the girl that was in the class with me. Oh well. XD
